Kirkland Named 2013 “Best Neighborhood” by Seattle Magazine
Seattle Magazine has recently named Kirkland as one of the “Best Neighborhoods” in the Puget Sound Region for 2013. It’s not often that the Emerald City recognizes an Eastside neighborhood for its superior lifestyle, but obviously Kirkland’s charm belies its suburban status. The city is honored for its “breathtaking lakeside setting, spectacular sunsets, sweet micro ‘hoods, terrific indie shops, fine dining, fabulous schools, plethora of parks and community passion for nature and the arts” – but this isn’t news to anyone in Kirkland. With an abundance of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, theaters and art galleries along with a gorgeous backdrop of Lake Washington, Kirkland offers “The Best of Lakeside Living” indeed. Whether you want to hit the numerous nature trails, stroll tree-lined streets in the quaint downtown area or shop for awesome designer deals at consignment shops, Kirkland is a joy to explore.
Seattle Magazine highlights a few top attractions in this lakefront city, including gourmet dining from “Chef Brian Scheehser’s exceptional farm-to-table menu at Trellis,” the award-winning restaurant of the Heathman Kirkland hotel. Out-of-town visitors will enjoy a cruise on the water with Argosy Kirkland Lake Tours, peaceful sunset voyages that cruise past expensive Kirkland homes and nearby estates, such as that of Bill Gates. Head to Totem Lake Cinema for independent films, take a painting class at Kirkland Art Center or visit Howard/Mandville Gallery for contemporary exhibitions. With a laid-back attitude and lakeside lifestyle that rubs off onto visitors, Kirkland is truly an enjoyable destination that everyone will find something to love about.
