Celebrate an Old-Fashioned Kirkland, WA Fourth of July
25 Lakeshore Plaza
Saturday, July 4th
A treasured local tradition, our peaceful lakeside community honors America's birthday with all sorts of family-friendly festivities. Join us for the 16th Annual Celebrate Kirkland Fourth of July parade, picnic, and fireworks over Lake Washington, starting at 10am on everyone's favorite summer holiday.
"Decorate to Celebrate" with the Kids
The party starts with a Children's Parade, preceded by an hour-and-a-half of face painting, hat design, and decorating bikes for the procession. Meet in Marina Park Pavilion at 10am, and get ready to color everything red, white and blue in time for the parade at 11:30am!
It's Parade Time
The Old-Fashioned Downtown Parade starts at 12 noon, full of patriotic floats, marching bands, and historic cars draped with the Star-Spangled Banner. If you're not marching, you'll want to aim for the grandstand at the intersection of Lake and Kirkland, or the stands at Lake and Central, where all performances are taking place. Other vantages are available along the route as well, namely on Main, Central, Lakeshore, and Kirkland.
Picnic, Concerts, & FIREWORKS!!!
After the parade, head back to The Heathman Hotel and grab a delicious picnic lunch from Trellis Restaurant - perhaps a Pesto Flatbread, Italian Bread Salad, or BBQ Pork Sandwich. Then take your meal back to Marina Park, just 3 blocks away, to enjoy the rest of the day's activities. Past years have featured a wild mix of contests, from wheelbarrow races and tug-of-war, to the famous Rotary Duck Dash, pitting 12,000 rubber duckies in a race on Lake Washington. Whatever games are cooked up, they're sure to be a perfect complement to the day's live music, with bands onstage until the fireworks shimmer off the water, starting at 10:15pm.
