Seattle Earshot Jazz Festival 2014
The festival kicks off with a blowout concert at Town Hall celebrating the birthday of jazz legend Thelonious Monk with several artists honoring his music. Over the next four weeks you can catch groups of all styles and sizes playing bebop, avant-garde, classic and everything in between. There are over 50 shows to choose from including well-known superstars and all-student ensemble from the Puget Sound and even around the world. The theme is "Masters, Monsters, and Mentors" to show how jazz continues to reach out to new generations as it stays grounded in tradition. The 2014 Earshot Festival wraps up with a free show at the Triple Door, one of Seattle most famous jazz venues.
It all takes place from October 10 to November 11 at the city's best jazz venues all over town. You can buy or reserve tickets online for most events, so check the schedule and start making plans to support the Seattle jazz community. If you love jazz and live music, then you won't want to miss this festival that only happens once a year.
