One of the most hotly anticipated concerts in Kirkland this season unites the region's preeminent jazz band with legendary trumpeter Terell Stafford on February 21st. The Sunday afternoon concert ends a three-show tour for the 17-piece Seattle Repository Jazz Orchestra (SRJO), preceded by stops at Edmonds Center for the Arts on Feb 18th, and Seattle's Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall on the 20th. Needless to say, getting 17 musicians together for a set of shows can be tricky - let alone adding a master like Terell Stafford - so don't miss the chance to witness jazz history in the making, and get your tickets today.
From Carnegie Hall to The Tonight Show
Terell Stafford has played a ton of stages in his day, from earning his degree in classical trumpet performance at Rutgers to appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Altogether, he his timeless, soulful trumpeting has appeared on over 130 albums, many of which have gone on to be nominated for or win GRAMMYs.
About the Orchestra
Like all forms of music, latent sounds and emotions that might not otherwise appear emerge when jazz is performed by an orchestra, and SRJO is among the very best at proving this fact. In fact, they're so good the state of Washington recently gave them their own holiday (October 4th). Inspired by all aspects of the form as it's evolved over the last century, prepare for a Sunday masterclass - steps away from our hotel.
