Experience local wines and flavors at Auction of Washington Wines
About 4 year(s) ago by The Heathman Hotel Washington wines and farm-to-table cuisine are once again getting center stage at the annual Auction of Washington Wines, a three-day celebration of artisan winemaking and great food August 15 -17, 2013. This year the event will benefit Seattle Children's Hospital and The Washington State University Viticulture and Enology Program, which aims to strengthen the quality and reputation of the Washington wine industry. The event offers an immersive experience into the magic of regional food and wine as Washington wineries open up their doors for tours and tastings, while local restaurants offer the best in wine country cooking based on local ingredients. The weekend is kicked off by the Picnic and Barrel Auction where guests can rub shoulders with Washington winemakers, philanthropists and wine aficionados, not to mention restock their cellars with top-of-the line product. Over a dozen local estates will host winemaker dinners, offering guests a rare chance to learn about Washington wines from people who make them. On Saturday, support Seattle Children's Hospital in the annual Columbia Wine Charity Run and Walk, a K Race and 5K Run/Walk & Kids Dash along a scenic courser through the heart of Woodinville wine country. With music, prizes and games, it's fun for the whole family, and supports a great cause. The grand finale of the Washington wine auction weekend is a spectacular Wine Gala at Chateau Ste, Michelle Winery, an ultimate celebration of earth and wine. As always Chef Brian Scheehser of the Trellis Restaurant in Kirkland will share with guests a selection of sumptuous appetizers. Guests can purchase tickets to individual events, or a VIP package that offers an ultimate three-day experience of mingling with the industry celebrities over delectable wines and treats.
